Corbetts opens new galvanizing plant to meet growing demand

Corbetts is delighted to announce the opening of our new galvanizing plant, known as A Plant. This additional plant enables Corbetts to have an even greater scope for fast turnaround orders with the added flexibility to accommodate spikes in manufacturing.

We have invested approximately £1 million to upgrade equipment in A Plant, including brand new state of the art burners, increases the ability of higher throughput whilst also assigning £400,000 dedicated to filling the bath with brand new zinc ingots. This galvanizing plant investment enables us to produce the highest quality galvanized steel to meet rising market demand, with the new plant able to process 300 tonnes of orders per week. The bath size for A Plant is 5.5 metres long, 1.2 metres wide, and 2.5 metres deep, which will enable us to process a variety of products.

Additionally, we have expanded our talented workforce by hiring and training 15 new plant operators specially for this facility. Our new team members bring the skills and experience necessary to utilise the updated equipment and ensure smooth operations in the galvanizing plant.

By strategically investing in infrastructure and personnel, Corbetts has built up the capacity and capabilities needed to deliver exceptional products and service levels to our valued customers. Our commitment to continuous improvement empowers us to consistently meet our clients’ galvanizing requirements now and into the future.

Keeping the supply chain moving forward

With two fully operational galvanizing plants, Corbetts can meet the expectations of the growing customer base by increasing our galvanizing output. As A Plant grows, this will allow us to increase the number of shifts over a 24-hour period so we can offer faster lead times for customers, even when demand picks up. The extra capacity gives us greater flexibility to meet each client’s unique needs.

Should one of our galvanizing plants ever require repairs or maintenance, we will still be able to operate at nearly full capacity with the other facility. This redundancy means less downtime and reliability for our customers, who can count on a steady supply of stunning steel.

The opening of A Plant allows us room to diversify our galvanized product lines in the future. As our customers’ needs change and our business evolves, we will be in a good position to adapt and expand.
