Corbetts transitions to TIB-CH03: a forward-thinking move for enhanced sustainability

At Corbetts, we are committed to staying ahead of regulatory changes and maintaining our high standards in surface treatment. With the impending UK ban on TIB-CH06, effective from 21^st September 2024, we have made the proactive decision to transition to the new chemical TIB-CH03.

This change comes after extensive consideration and trials, ensuring that we continue to deliver the best available protection, while embracing more sustainable and compliant practices.

What is TIB-CH03?

TIB-CH03 is a state-of-the-art Trivalent Chromium (Cr3+) passivator. When added to a water quench tank or a dedicated passivation bath, it forms a clear passivation layer that offers robust protection against white rust for up to four months.

In addition to being highly effective, this new coating can also be overpainted, providing flexibility for further treatments or aesthetic adjustments.

Key benefits of TIB-CH03

1. Clear coating: TIB-CH03 creates a transparent finish that doesn’t alter the appearance of the underlying material, making it ideal for applications where aesthetics are important.
2. Durable protection against white rust: The passivation layer formed by TIB-CH03 protects metal surfaces from white rust for up to four months, ensuring a longer lifespan and reduced maintenance costs.

4. Solubility and simple dosing: TIB-CH03 dissolves easily in water, and its straightforward dosing process makes it easy to integrate into our operations without adding complexity.
